Acute Medical Unit

The Acute Medical Unit provides care to adult patients experiencing an acute/potentially acute illness or injury. The Medical Unit is located on the second floor.

Generally, a patient is considered a candidate for admission to the Acute Medical Unit if he/she is an adult experiencing acute or potentially acute illness or injury, or an exacerbation of a chronic condition affecting one or more body systems requiring therapeutic intervention.

The Acute Medical Unit provides care twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Staffing is adjusted for census changes based on increased or decreased levels.

Access to emergency and routine laboratory, diagnostic radiology, and blood bank services as well as respiratory care staff is available readily on a twenty-four hour basis.
