Acute Medical Unit

The Medical Unit provides nursing care to adult patients experiencing an acute/potentially acute illness or injury, an exacerbation of a chronic condition affecting one or more body systems. Patient care is provide include Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Externs, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretaries, Unit Technicians, Physicians, Respiratory Technicians, Physical Therapy personnel, Pastoral Care personnel, Discharge Planning staff, Radiology Technicians, Laboratory Staff, Dieticians and Pharmacists. Housekeepers, Maintenance Department, Laundry personnel, Technical staff, and volunteers assist direct patient care providers to work as a team to meet patient needs. Professional Nurses in this department strive to maintain the most up to date clinical practice, and they are provided with 40 hours per year of paid educational leave to achieve this goal.
