Medicine Rotations at CHC
At the Community Health Center students have the opportunity to rotate with various specialists. In general internal medicine, Drs. Kallus, Gibson and Rodriguez are our main preceptors. We also offer rotations in cardiology, pulmonology, oncology and neurology. Rotations on the specialty services tend to be limited and are approved as a first come, first served basis allowing us to maintain a one-on-one training ratio which we feel is the best learning environment for the student.
Most of the rotations are served within the CHC facility but students on the specialty rotations may travel with their attending to other facilities. Goals and objectives are reviewed frequently and the services are evaluated by the students. The DME reviews the evaluations and modifies the teaching environment as necessary to assure maximum learning potentials for the students.
Drs. Mark Kallus, Ron Gibson and Marcos Rodriguez are internists participating in the osteopathic training program for general internal medicine.
In addition to general internal medicine, Community Health Center has an active oncology unit. Opportunities for in patient and ambulatory experience are strengths of the service. Barbara McGrath, M.D. and Zdenko Krizan, M.D. participate in trainee education. Hands on experience complements the rotation.
